Why we support Liz!

As an outgoing board member, neighbor and a fellow community member, I’m proud to support Liz Heimerl-Rolland for re-election to the Wauwatosa School Board.
Liz is one of those people who shows up prepared, thoughtful, and grounded in real experience. She’s worked with kids from 3K all the way through high school, has a background in early childhood education, and has a graduate degree focused on community engagement. She is built for this She’s spent her career helping people learn, grow, and navigate hard situations and that steady, practical mindset shows up in how she has served and would continue to show up on the board.
We didn’t always agree on every issue, and honestly, that’s what I appreciated most. Liz listens. She asks questions. She’s genuinely open to perspectives different from her own and approaches disagreements with empathy and respect. Even when conversations were tough, she always aimed to work collaboratively and keep the focus where it belongs…how is affects kids.
Liz believes deeply in public education and in our public schools. She’s 100% student-centered and makes decisions based on what helps students feel safe, supported, and set up for success. That kind of leadership matters, especially right now when we are battling for the futures of the next generation.
Wauwatosa is lucky to have servant leaders like Liz who care this much and lead with both heart and humility. She earned my trust and she will prove that she can earn yours too. I’m confident she’s the right choice to continue serving our education community on the School Board.

It takes a village to raise a child….and in our district it takes a village willing to have open conversations and ask hard questions that focus on what’s best for our children. Liz has been a dedicated and active member of our district for as long as I’ve known her (and even before that). Liz has been such a thoughtful and attentive member of the board as long as I’ve known her. It’s clear her passion is caring for not only our kids, but the entire community. We’re a Madison Elementary family, and she’s always taken the time to check in on our son’s experience, as well as ours. She hears me, not only as a member of the school board, but also as a mom, when it comes to my perspective — both good and bad. Madison has had its challenges within the district with leadership and staff changes within our short time, but our son continues to be supported and grow and feel safe every day, which are the aspects most important to me. I know Liz works hard for the continued betterment of our district and our schools and our kids, and I’ll always be a champion for her as much as she is for our kids.
